Simplicato Email Backup system is a custom solution that is based on Amazon Web Services.

In using Amazon's Simple Storage Solution (S3) and Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Simplicato provides an on line, off-site solution that is secure, scalable, reliable and cost effective.

Amazon's virtually unlimited capacity enable us to add new customers and increase customer storage without the need to add hardware or software. The system is completely automated and adaptable to customer storage growth.

The data is encrypted and compressed to ensure privacy and reduce cost of storage on S3.

Simplicato built the solution using the standard IMAPv4 protocol to retrieve and restore the messages.

The system connect to the user email account, retrieve the changed messages and copy it to S3. The backup system is independent of the Email Hosting. It is available also for users that are not Simplicato Email Hosting customers. It is available on www.imapbackup.com

Mail are backed up daily and are retained for 14 days as a default. Longer retention period is available for additional cost. The system backup all the folders with the exclusion of the Trash, Spam and the restore folders.

Administrator or user can restore the email to a restore folder of the same email account or to a different email account. The credentials of the destination of email account are required.
