Introduction

Symphony IMAP Backup is a Windows IMAP E-Mail Back-Up and Restoration Utility. It combines the security and convenience of having your E-Mail messages located on your personal computer, without sacrificing the rich collaboration features of IMAP. Developed by Simplicato Inc., the authority on IMAP E-Mail Hosting, Symphony IMAP Backup allows you to download your entire IMAP Mailbox directly to your computer through an intuitive interface.

Symphony IMAP Backup features built-in "Restore" features, which allow you to effortlessly restore any or all backed up E-Mail messages back to the IMAP Server of your choice. Just select the messages you need restored, then choose a destination IMAP Sever and hit the restore button. Messages are restored immediately to a dated folder, preserving their original format, directory structure, and even the original attachment.

Messages that are backed-up to your personal computer can be easily searched and viewed without the need of an internet connection. Search for your messages using the "by-folder", "by-subject", "by-sender", or "by-date" query and instantly view them in Outlook or Outlook Express.

For added convenience all messages are backed up locally to a friendly "file-form", maintaining the directory structure. This means you can burn them permanently to CDR just like you would any other files, ensuring that you never loose another E-Mail message again.

Symphony IMAP Backup is equipped with automatic synchronization, so you don't have to worry about missing new messages as they arrive. Just leave Symphony IMAP Backup running minimized in the taskbar and it will automatically synchronize and back-up newly arrived messages. Best of all it's absolutely free. :-)

Terminology

Source Server: Location of the IMAP Mailbox, whose messages you are backing-up.
Destination Server: Location of the IMAP Mailbox, to which you are restoring messages.

Benefits

  1. Have messages on your personal computer for quick and easy search and retrieval when you don't have internet access.
  2. Burn your E-Mail to CDR, so you never loose another message ever again.
  3. Compatible with MS Outlook line of products so you can swiftly import the messages.
  4. Restore Backed-Up Messages to other IMAP Servers.
  5. Program runs in the background synchronizing and retrieving new messages as they arrive.

Requirements

Symphony IMAP Backup requires MS .NET Framework v1.1 to be installed on the machine. If you keep your Windows machine updated, using the "Windows Update" feature, you probably already have the .NET framework installed. If you are not sure whether the .NET Framework v1.1 is installed on your computer, simply click on the SymphonyIMAPBackupv0.3(Beta).msi and an error message will notify you if the .NET framework v.1.1 is missing. If you do not have it already installed, you can download the .NET framework v1.1 by visiting this Microsoft link: Microsoft

Installation Instructions

Run: Symphony IMAP Backup v0.3 (Beta).msi. A shortcut will be created on the Desktop and Program Start Menu.
